Dewey's Ramblings

Well my birthday is coming up soon, so we are headed to Lynchberg, TN to visit the Jack Daniels distilery. This should be alot of fun. Its going to be the family and my parents are also going to show up.

With the new security exploits that are being released for php, I am finally upgrading my php version to the latest and greatest. So far no problems.

Well I decidced it was time to add another tuner to my myth setup. I now have a PVR 350 and 150 running. My 150 has been set as the number one card, but it has some distortion. If I figure out what is causing I will post it. As for now, I'm enjoying the picture and picture option it offers me.

Since the kids didn't want to leave my network cable alone, I also bought a wireless card. I chose the d-link DWL-G122 v b1. This was really easy to setup in linux. if anyone is interested, i will post my config files and what version of drivers I used.

I decided to ditch my windows machine at home. I bought a Haughbagh WinTV 350 and a new case, and turned the machine into a media center. Now if I could only get it to work. I have the remote working, but only if I manually start the service. I appears to be recording the shows but it won't play them back. It also won't let me watch live tv when being being filtered through the box. This is so I can pause live tv. This is becoming a very frustating project.

Anyone have experience with this and want to help?

It ends up, you have to enable Free Font in your php to get the captcha to work.

My final config looked like this --with-gettext --with-mysql --with-gd --with-jpeg-dir=/usr/lib --with-freetype-dir=/usr/lib

I was trying to get my php installation to run with the GD library. It appears to have installed, but my nucleus plugin doesn't work. I used a test script, and all it gives me is Creating image... success. ‰PNG 

This just doesn't make any sense to me. Once I get this figured out, the comments section of will be on. I would just turn it on, but the last time I did that I had a million spam comments. How annoying.

Well I found a good website for photoshop, so I decided to update dewig.com with some new buttons. They look alot better than the old crap I made. The site now has a new blue that stands out more. Let me know what you think by using the contact form on that site. I hope to have the comments up on this site soon, I just have to upgrade my php library.

I don't really like the word blog, but I'll use it anyway. So I've decided to record my random thoughts. Maybe some of them will be of use. Maybe not.
